Proper Organic Lawn Care
I know you want to choose your grass. But are you planting the right grass seed? Are you wanting to take your lawn organic? If so, then you have some extra planning to do around setting up the best methods. here are what you need to know.
The grasses are the most important element of your lawn. So for a proper lawn care method, you should see to it that you plant the right kind of grasses and take good care of them. No matter what others tell you, chemical lawn care is never a good idea. As anyone with little experience in gardening knows, grass is a tenacious weed and you do not need to apply harsh chemicals or fertilizing salts for a proper growth of them.
The first thing is to plant the right kind of grass. If you are living in the northern states, go for cool-season grasses which will wither away in the hotter days but will remain green and healthy during the longer Northern winters. If on the other hand, you are looking for grass for gardens located at south, go for warm-season grasses. During the winter, the grass will grow dormant and brown but will be green during the warmer months. If you are living in a transition zone, choose the type of grass depending on what season is more dominant on your locality, the winter or the summer.
Also make sure that the grass is planted at the right time. The warm-season grasses must be planted in the spring whereas the cool-season grasses should be sown in the fall, preferably in the August 15 ?” 30 time zone. If you need to plant at the wrong time, make sure you are planting grass sods instead of grass seeds. Also make sure that the grass is properly watered. The early morning is the ideal time to water the grasses. Then while cutting the grasses, remember not to cut more than 1/3rd of the grass height at one mowing.
Follow these simple instructions and a good part of your lawn care will be done without much hassle.
